Even Adults Need Their Toys Taken Away….

Do other states have “State Fairs” like Texas??? So our little blended family took our kids to the State Fair of Texas and we wondered into one of the vender buildings, this one was full of beds and more. We needed a restroom break or more so, I did. There was some self involved woman with a high long pony tail and wearing a sports bra and Lycra bike shorts from the 80’s. She was on her phone as her kid was running like a crazy kid. Mom was too busy to get out of the middle of the isle. I shook my head and proceeded to the bathroom.

My fiancé waited with the kids as they “tried” out the beds… I came out of the restroom to a very upset fiancé. I asked why he was mad. He told me , “You know that lady that was on the phone? Her kid just ran up to your son and spanked him on the butt and ran away. I told the mom and she just walked away and said she needed to go find her kid! Grrr!”

They lady was nowhere in sight so we got the kids and proceeded to leave the building. As we walked away, I spotted some fake sunglasses under one of the beds so I picked them up and puts them on my head. All the while thinking, I can turn them in to the lost and found later. They were scratched and wonky so I didn’t think twice. After a minute or so I heard someone saying rudely, ” Are those your sunglasses? Those are mine! Where did you find my sunglasses?” Then a person runs from behind me and stands in front of me. Guess who it is? It is none other than the self involved lady and her inappropriate kid.

I looked at the lady as I acknowledged where I saw her and without hesitation, I quickly turn accusatory and say, “Aren’t you the lady who’s kid spanked my kid and when my fiancé confronted you, you walked away without acknowledging what your kid did?”

She looked all sheepish and rolled her eyes. Then instead of acknowledging it or apologizing, she just looked at her kid and said, ” This lady has my glasses, can you just apologize so I can get them back? I can’t take you anywhere!” The kid laughed and looked at this mother and said he would not apologize. She then said that her kid had ADHD and was autistic as an excuse.

Now I know there are many spectrums of autism but this child acknowledged he did wrong and found it humorous. It was evident that he was never made to take responsibility for anything. I then replied letting the mom know, “My kid also has ADHD, and Autism but he is not allowed to touch anyone anywhere and he keeps his hands to himself. He does not go around inappropriately spanking people and especially not without any repercussion PERIOD! Now my son deserves an apology!” I crossed my arms in front of me and waited.

The lady then bent down to my sons height and apologized to him. Sad that I had to make her apologize and do the right thing but, adults sometimes need their toys taken away as well!
